St. John Parish Prepares for Mardi Gras 2024

-- Annual parades in St. John the Baptist Parish are set to roll this weekend before Mardi Gras as tradition holds. The Towahpahsah Parade will begin at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, February 10, 2024, and the Krewe of Dage’ Parade will begin at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, February 11, 2024, and will both follow their traditional routes in Reserve and LaPlace.

-- St. John Parish officials and the Sheriff’s Office have met with representatives from each parade as well as emergency responders and agencies who assist with both parades. Public bathrooms will be placed on parish servitudes throughout the parade routes and roads are expected to close approximately 15 minutes before the parades start.

-- The St. John Parish Emergency Operations Center is monitoring the possibility of inclement weather on Sunday and updated information will be shared as the situation warrants. Residents should also monitor the weather and remain safe along the parade routes. Emergency responders have developed a plan for response during parade times.

-- St. John the Baptist Parish Government offices will be closed Monday, February 12, 2024, and Tuesday, February 13, 2024, for the Mardi Gras holiday.
