Residents Encouraged to Prepare for Freezing Temperatures
St. John the Baptist Parish - The National Weather Service has issued a Hard Freeze Warning Friday night through Saturday morning and Saturday night through Sunday morning for St. John Parish.
Multiple nights of freezing temperatures and wind chills are expected. Residents are encouraged to take precautions to protect people, pipes, pets, and plants.
People
- Keep warm and dress in layers if outdoors. Check on your elderly family, friends, and neighbors.
Pipes
- Wrap exposed faucets and pipes.
- Protect backflow preventers through the use of an enclosure or an insulated bag.
Pets
- Bring pets inside with you and your family.
Plants
- Bring potted plants inside. Cover sensitive outdoor plants.
Fire Safety
- Be cautious when using a space heater and never leave unattended.
- Never use a stove or an oven to heat your home.
- Ensure your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors are functioning properly.
