Parish President Hotard Announces Improvement in Fire Insurance Rating

Parish President Jaclyn Hotard is pleased to announce that recent fire rating surveys resulted in an improvement to a Class 2 in the Laplace Fire District. This Class 2 Rating means that residential and commercial properties throughout the district may see a decrease or discounts on their fire insurance rates.

Every 5 years fire departments throughout the state are rated on a scale from 1 to 10 with 1 being the highest score obtainable. The rating process consists of evaluating the fire department in several areas including but not limited to staffing, training, communications, response times, equipment, and water supply. The Class 2 Rating received places the district within the top 9% of districts throughout the state.

St. John Parish Fire Department Chief Cain Dufrene stated, “This improvement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of all fire department personnel and the support provided to us by Parish President Hotard and administration to ensure we are providing the best service possible to the residents.”

President Hotard added, “Congratulations to Chief Dufrene, the fire department, its leadership and firefighters and staff who have worked so hard on this significant achievement which continues to show our commitment to public safety in St. John.” ###
