Happy King’s Day! Parish President Hotard, staff, and officials, formally kicked off Mardi Gras in St. John Parish with a toast to the local Mardi Gras Krewes. President Hotard and guests welcomed and toasted the Krewe of Agape, Krewe of Allovus, Krewe of Dage’ and Krewe of Towahpahsah.
“I look forward to this annual event each year and can’t thank our local Krewes enough for all of their contributions to carnival in our community,” said Parish President Hotard. “We also paused for a moment of silence and prayer to remember co-founder of the Towahpahsah Parade Lawrence Triche, for the victims of the recent terrorist attack in New Orleans, and for a peaceful Mardi Gras season.””Thank you to Pastor Devin Mason of Rescue Mission Baptist Church for leading us in prayer,” President Hotard added.
As tradition holds, the annual parades in St. John Parish will roll the weekend before Mardi Gras. The Krewe of Towahpahsah Parade will roll at noon, Saturday, March 1st, 2025, in Reserve, and the Krewe of Dage' Parade will roll at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, March 2nd, 2025, in LaPlace. The Krewe of Agape will roll on Sunday immediately following the Krewe of Dage parade.
