St. John Parish Fire Department is looking for individuals who are interested in serving the St. John Parish community in both emergency response and non-emergency support positions. When you volunteer with the St. John Parish Fire Department, you get the training and guidance you need to keep the community and yourself safe.
OPERATIONAL MEMBERS
Operational Volunteer Members focus on providing assistance in fire suppression, rescue, hazardous materials, and emergency medical services. Operational volunteers receive training to support these functions and participate in emergency response.
SUPPORT MEMBERS
Support Volunteer Members provide assistance with non-emergency activities including department outreach/educational events, office tasks, and emergency support activities.
VOLUNTEER MEMBER REQUIREMENTS
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must possess a high school diploma, equivalency certificate, or high school transcript.
- Must possess a valid Louisiana driver's license.
CADET PROGRAM
The St. John Parish Fire Department Cadet Program is designed for individuals 15 - 18 years of age who are interested in learning about a career in the fire service. This fun, hands-on program, provides participants with opportunities to become more involved in the community and commit to something bigger than yourself all while learning basic firefighter skills.
Cadets get to train with St. John Parish Firefighters on topics that include, basic first aid, CPR, fire hose handling evolutions, personal protective equipment, fire ground procedures, firefighting tools and equipment, and other related subjects.
Cadets also have the opportunity to ride-along with St. John Parish Firefighters where you can assist in station activities and participate on emergency incidents on a limited basis.
