  • Distribution Sites Water, ice, and MREs are available daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. via drive-thru at the following locations:
    • Wallace Fire Station - 5733 Hwy 18, Vacherie (Wallace)
    • REGALA Gym - 200 REGALA Park Rd, Reserve
    • Garyville Magnet School – 240 Hwy 51, Garyville
  • Tide Loads of Hope is collecting and cleaning laundry from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. until further notice at LaPlace Walmart.

  • Power:

  • Entergy crews are in St. John Parish and working on the extensive repairs needed to restore power.  Hurricane Ida damaged or destroyed large numbers of transmission structures, poles, and wires.
  • Repairs are ongoing but are complex and crews continue to navigate rough terrain and vegetation. They are working to accelerate in the coming days.  

     

    Water

  • Water has been restored to LaPlace and there is water in all cities in St. John.
  •  Until further notice, all of St. John Parish is under a Boil Water Advisory.  Please boil water for one minute before consuming.
  • Water may continue to fluctuate as Utilities identifies and repairs water leaks and damaged infrastructure Parishwide.
  • Parish residents are asked to limit all non-essential sewer services as much as possible during this time - this includes washing clothes, cleaning dishes and showering. Residents can continue using their essential sewer services, such as using the bathroom.

     

    Roads

  • All interstate systems open. Hwy 51 is only open to first responders currently due to power lines. 
  • LA 44 is closed near the Cargill Grain Elevator (between W. 19th Street and W. 23rd Street) is closed.

  •  

    Debris Removal

    • There are more than 30 crews out clearing roadways of debris. Starting Tuesday, crews will start picking up vegetative debris.
    • It is important residents separate debris into the following categories: Household garbage, construction debris, vegetation debris, hazardous waste, 'white' goods, electronics for pickup.
    • Do not set debris against trees or poles. Place at curb.

 

Generator Safety

  • St. John Parish reminds residents that carbon monoxide from generators is deadly. Only use a generator in a well-ventilated area and place away from structures, at least 20 feet away from your home, windows, and doors.

     

    Contractor Fraud

  • St. John homeowners are reminded to protect themselves from contractor fraud and other scams. Remember, it is important to obtain more than one estimate for repairs and to check on the qualifications and credentials of anyone working on your home or paying.
  • Use the Better Business Bureau to report, www.bbb.org.

 

Curfew

  • A parish-wide curfew is in effect from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m. daily until further notice.
  • The public is encouraged to use caution on roadway any time as there are still power lines and debris throughout the parish.
