9.20.21 Update

Changes from previous update:

Water/Sewer

  • The Boil Water Advisory is lifted for the West Bank & all of LaPlace (Water District 2 & 3). The Boil Water Advisory remains in place for Water District 1 (Reserve, Garyville and Mount Airy) and also the Pleasure Bend Water District.
  • Residents are also asked to continue to curb non-essential sewer usages as much as possible such as running washing machines and dishwashers

Power

  • Number of outages as of 9 a.m.:  548 – 3% of customers remain without power

Debris Removal

- Crews worked through the weekend with 27 trucks continuing to remove debris from curbs throughout St. John Parish.

- More than 46,000 cubic yards of debris were collected over the weekend, bringing the total to more than 200,000 cubic yards so far.

- Multiple hanger and leaner crews are also out removing tree limbs from right-aways.

- Debris pick up will continue daily and residents are asked to separate debris as much as possible and do not place near fire hydrants, water lines, water meters and mailboxes. Thank you for your assistance.

PERMITS

As a reminder, permits are only needed when structural repairs are made to the framing, roof, or electrical components of the house.

Additionally, Parish President Hotard suspended all permit or trade filing fees until February of 2022.

Structural repair permits that are required are required as part of St. John Parish’s participation in the National Flood Insurance Program, providing eligibility for flood insurance, and to enforce building codes that ensure the safety of its citizens.
